Comic book update

November 11, 2009 at 9:58 am | In comic books | Leave a Comment

Here you can check some pages of the Batman/Doc Savage special (out today), and here some sketches of the First Wave characters, including teen Black Canary.

On the Marvel side, this week has another issue of Daredevil,  a series of reliable quality, as well as the first issue of Dark X-Men, by Paul Cornell and Leonard Kirk, that gave us the excellent Captain Britain and MI13 series of a couple years ago. And don’t miss this interview with the X-Titles editor for some Tery Dodson art.

Comic book udpate

November 7, 2009 at 8:00 pm | In comic books | Leave a Comment

Out this week:

- Black Widow: Deadly Origin #1: a really really good start for this miniseries, that’s retelling the origin of everybody’s favorite russian spy. Worth checking for sure.

- Psylocke #1: It’s a curse, but Betsy’s stories tend to be really boring and this is no exception. Not friendly for new readers, nothing really interesting happens. Disappointing.

- X-Men vs Agents of Atlas #2: the end of the miniseries, that sets up the backups on Incredible Hercules that start this week too, with Assault on New Olympus Prologue. The Agents stories are always recommended by me, so you know.

- and the italians can now buy a black and white preview of the Milo Manara story X-Men: Ragazze in Fuga, which seems to be… really interesting.

The collected volume for Wednesday Comics will be both large (11×17 inches hardcover) and expensive ($49.99). Still not bad for what’s essentially a retro comic book anthology by some of the most talented artists in the medium.
